Protests works (result Oriented): There are causes to be HopeFUL

Protests works (result Oriented): There are causes to be HopeFUL

Finance Minister agreed to re-think the “Black Money whitening” decisions. We congratulate him for accepting the people’s feelings.

This is the first time in Bangladesh where we have seen strong protest against black money owners. It gives us some lessons:

1. The protest will give result, most probably it will be closed for one year rather three years (that is not bad at the present status of Bangladesh)

2. If we can protest more strongly, it is of course possible to stop government whitening the black money for ever

3. The black money owners are powerful, they control the bureaucracy, politics, economics, judicial, legislature, executive..all.

CFB also requested to rethink and I have sent hundreds of mail against black money whitening process. I request all the members to raise and do something to stop the process of black money whitening.

So, keeping pressure upon government is one tool to fight against corruption. CFB believes in fighting against corruption also from personal level. Individually remaining corruption free is a must to see Bangladesh as corruption free country.

Light a candle ..rather we criticize others….means I must be free from corruption …then we keep the wright to talk against corruption

Black money whitening = Declaration of corruption as legal in Bangladesh

Black money whitening (Declaration of corruption as legal) and “Implementation” Challenge – The dilemma of present Government

“Implementation is the main challenge” for the achieving goal of 2009-2010 budget- the Finance Minister categorically stated. Question is, Why?

After 38 Years, state has failed to achieve the minimum level standard in Implementation. One of the major reasons is that corruption has been institutionalized in Bangladesh very successfully by the bureaucrats, army turned politicians, so called syndicate business circles.

Our Question to Finance Minister, Is it possible to overcome the Challenge of “Implementation” after declaring corruption as legal? There are many causes of challenges of implementation: lack of capacity, timely allocation of finance, inadequate skilled persons at different levels and tiers and MOSTLY Corruption.

Very interestingly, there is budget allocation for “Good Governance” and manly focuses on the activities of “Parliamentary Committee”. What’s the Function of “Parliamentary committees” when we approve Corruption?

We hope, Government will rethink this decision instead of telling, “Politics is the best art of compromise”. We want punishment of Black Money owners rather giving them award.

Good Governance, Corruption and Budgetary allocation to fight against corruption:

Good Governance, Corruption and Budgetary allocation to fight against corruption:

Is it easy to fight against corruption? Do we need to invest to curb corruption? Do we need budgetary allocation to fight against corruption? There is budget for the trial of War Criminals (we salute for that). Finding single solution of corruption is hard or impossible.

As we have no control now upon the state machinery, we are talking about individual level (Corruption Free Family). We need to work on all surroundings aspects of corruption. In the policy makers, directly campaign against Corruption may face resistance.

It is better to talk about Good Governance. If good governance has to achieve, there is no alternative to pass it through the ordeal test of Corruption. Where there is corruption, there is lack (absence!) of good governance. That’s why Bangladesh is not a state of good governance.

“The transparent and accountable management of human, natural, economic and financial resources for the purpose of equitable and sustainable development, in the context of a political and institutional environment that upholds human rights, democratic principles and the rule of law” (Definition of Good Governance, EC).

It covers many fundamental areas. Each category, each step is now stuck up in the process of achieving Good Governance in Bangladesh due to corruption.

Let’s fight for both curbing corruption and achieving good governance. Both of them will feed each other and corruption free Bangladesh will come closer.
